Terms & Conditions
Alteration Services
Assessment & Quote
All garments are assessed before alteration. Prices are estimates and may vary depending on the garment, fabric, construction and complexity of the work. The alteration, estimated price and expected completion time will be discussed and agreed before work begins.
Urgent or same-day alterations may incur an additional charge and are subject to availability. Appointments are required. Please allow at least one business day for simple alterations. More complex garments, including bridalwear, jackets and structured pieces, may require additional time.
Garment Condition
We take care with every garment. Clients are responsible for advising us of any existing damage, stains, weaknesses, previous alterations or defects. We cannot be responsible for pre-existing damage or issues arising from the garment’s existing condition. We remain responsible for damage caused by our alteration work.
Alterations & Additional Work
Alterations are carried out according to the requirements agreed with the client. Any additional work or changes requested after work has commenced will be discussed and approved before additional charges are incurred.
Fittings
Some alterations may require a fitting. Clients are responsible for attending scheduled fittings and providing accurate information about the desired fit.
Payment
Payment is due upon completion and before the garment is collected, unless otherwise agreed.
Collection
Clients will be notified when their garment is ready for collection. Garments should be collected within the agreed timeframe.
Cancellations
If an appointment is cancelled or rescheduled, reasonable notice is appreciated. Where alteration work has already commenced, payment may be required for work completed or materials reasonably incurred.
Final Fit
We take reasonable care to achieve the agreed alteration and fit. The final result may also be influenced by the garment’s original construction, fabric, size and condition.
Care After Alteration
Clients should follow any care instructions provided. We are not responsible for damage caused by improper washing, cleaning, handling or care, or by subsequent alterations or modifications carried out by another party.
Australian Consumer Law
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions excludes, restricts or limits any rights or remedies that cannot legally be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.

Sample Making & Small-Batch Production
1. Consultation & Quotation
All projects begin with a consultation to discuss the design, specifications, quantities, materials, construction requirements, timeframe and budget.
Following the consultation, a written quotation will be provided outlining the agreed scope of work, services, estimated timeframe and fees. Work will commence once the quotation has been accepted and the required deposit has been received.
2. Payment
A deposit is required before work commences. For larger production projects, staged payments may apply and will be outlined in the quotation.
The final balance is payable in accordance with the agreed payment schedule. Additional work, alterations or changes outside the agreed scope may incur additional charges.
3. Sample Development & Revisions
Sample making may include pattern development, construction, fittings, adjustments and revisions as agreed in the quotation.
The quotation includes the number of fittings, revisions or development stages specified at the time of booking. Additional revisions, repeated fittings or significant changes to the original design may incur additional fees and may extend the agreed timeframe.
4. Client Approvals
Clients are responsible for carefully reviewing and approving samples, patterns, measurements, materials and production specifications before production proceeds.
Once approval has been given, any subsequent changes may result in additional costs and/or delays to the production schedule.
5. Materials & Client Responsibilities
Clients are responsible for purchasing and supplying all fabrics, trims, linings, fastenings, embellishments and other materials required for their project, unless otherwise agreed in writing.
Nayana Design Studio does not purchase or order materials on behalf of clients.
The studio may provide general guidance regarding suitable fabrics, trims or materials as part of the design and development process; however, the client remains responsible for selecting, purchasing and supplying the required materials.
All client-supplied materials must be provided by the agreed date and in sufficient quantities and suitable condition for production. The studio is not responsible for delays, additional costs or production issues resulting from materials that are late, insufficient, faulty, damaged, unsuitable or unavailable.
Where additional materials are required due to changes, wastage, defects or insufficient quantities supplied by the client, these must be provided by the client and may affect the production timeframe.
6. Production & Lead Times
Production quantities, estimated lead times and delivery dates will be confirmed before production begins.
Lead times commence once all required materials, approvals and deposits have been received.
Small-batch and handmade production may involve minor variations between individual pieces. These variations are considered part of the nature and craftsmanship of small-scale production and will not necessarily be considered defects.
7. Changes to Production
Any changes to the approved design, pattern, measurements, materials, quantities or construction requirements after production has commenced must be agreed with the studio.
Additional work resulting from approved changes may incur additional charges and may require an adjustment to the original completion date.
8. Cancellations
If a project is cancelled after work has commenced, the client is responsible for payment for all work completed up to the date of cancellation.
Deposits are generally non-refundable where work has commenced or costs have been incurred, subject to the client’s rights under Australian Consumer Law.
9. Intellectual Property & Confidentiality
Client-provided designs, concepts and confidential business information will be treated as confidential.
Ownership of patterns, technical development, prototypes, samples and other work created by Nayana Design Studio will be agreed between the studio and client as part of the project.
Unless otherwise agreed in writing, payment for sample making or production does not automatically transfer ownership of the studio’s underlying technical patterns, methods or development work.
10. Portfolio & Promotional Use
Nayana Design Studio may photograph completed samples or garments for use in its portfolio, website, social media and other promotional materials.
If a project is confidential or the client does not wish the work to be photographed or published, this must be communicated to the studio in writing before the project commences.
11. Delays & Circumstances Beyond Our Control
The studio will make reasonable efforts to meet agreed production timeframes. However, we cannot be responsible for delays caused by circumstances outside our reasonable control, including supplier delays, unavailable materials, shipping delays, client approval delays, late delivery of client-supplied materials, illness, equipment failure or other unforeseen circumstances.
Where a delay occurs, the studio will communicate with the client and provide an updated timeframe where reasonably possible.
12. Australian Consumer Law
These terms are intended to operate alongside the Australian Consumer Law. Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, right or remedy that cannot legally be excluded, restricted or modified under Australian law.
